A man stabbed in Honington has died in hospital, police said today.

Police were called to a home in Poplar Close at RAF Honington just after 1.50am on Wednesday morning after screaming was heard from inside.

The 23-year-old man was found collapsed outside the property with serious wounds to his body. He was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds before being transferred to Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, where he died last night (Thursday, March 17).

Suffolk Police said the investigation into the stabbing had now been upgraded to a murder inquiry.

A 22-year-old woman from the Bury St Edmunds area, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, remains on police bail and must return to Bury Police Station on March 23.

A spokeswoman for RAF Honington said the incident was not related to the homecoming of 15 Squadron on Tuesday evening.
