Update: Flowers laid for teenager killed in south Norfolk car crash

Flowers have been placed at the spot at which an 18-year-old man died in a car crash.

The accident happened on the B1134 road at Harleston, three miles north of Weavers Close, at 8pm on Friday.

The teenager was a passenger in a yellow Vauxhall Astra car which was travelling northwards on the B1134 road on Church Hill towards Harleston from the Starston direction when the car struck the banked verge on its near side.

He died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Today, (Saturday) flowers containing cards expressing how much the teenager would be missed had been laid in the hedgerow.

People living nearby said there had been several accidents on the stretch of road in recent years.

One man, who asked not to be named, said: 'I saw the police cordon which closed the road off but I didn't hear anything. I've known accidents there in the past, especially when there's ice.'

A woman added: 'It's the national speed limit down there and all it takes is somebody to take their eyes off the road for a split second. It's unfortunate somebody was killed.'

One man, who also asked to remain anonymous, said some motorists drove quickly along the road.

He said: 'My nephew wrote his car off down there but he was lucky. There seems to be one every year.

'There's a lot of water that runs off the fields and especially when it's frosty or icy it can cause problems. It's just before you get to the 30mph limit but I don't think that makes much of a difference.'

Police, fire and ambulance crews were sent to the scene.
