A group of Travellers has moved from a popular Lowestoft park after an eviction notice was served.

A Waveney District Council spokesman said the unauthorised encampment had now left Normanston Park but some of the group had set up a further unauthorised encampment at the North Denes area.

She said the new encampment would be treated separately.

An eviction notice was served on the Travellers on Tuesday (July 26) giving them 48 hours to vacate the site.

A team from Waveney Norse are currently working at Normanston Park to remove any waste.

The district council spokesman added: 'We will be working with the Norfolk and Suffolk Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Liaison Team and Suffolk Police in accordance with the joint protocol for dealing with unauthorised encampments to ensure the most appropriate course of action is undertaken as quickly as possible.

'A case conference is scheduled for later today.'
