One of the county's biggest cycling races is returning to Norfolk, with more than 60 cyclists travelling from across the country to compete.

This year the annual King's Lynn Cycling Club road race on Sunday, October 16 consists of a 60-mile course through the villages of Grimston, Gayton and Great Massingham in west Norfolk. Organisers said the best viewing platforms would be in Grimston, near the clock area, and the village green in Great Massingham.

Race director Annie Thompson said: 'KLCC is very pleased to run its annual road race, it has again proved to be extremely popular with 90 riders from all around the country competing for 60 places. I'm really pleased that we have lots of support from the local villages.'

The road race this year rolls out from race headquarters at Holly Meadows School, Vong Lane, Pott Row at 10.30am, with a finish on the B1153 in Grimston.

There will be rolling road closures ahead of the riders and prizes will be awarded for the winner and in the sprint category. The event has attracted many more sponsors this year.

The race resumed in 2015 after a 42-year break. It's accredited with the British Cycling Association and is classified as a Category 3/4 event, consisting of four laps, which means some of the most talented cyclists in the UK will be competing.
