Two people have died on the region's roads in single vehicle collisions which occurred within just hours of each other.

Another remains in a critical condition in hospital having been rushed from the scene of a crash close to Ellingham.

A woman in her 20s had been taken from the scene at Dulls Road after the silver Renault Clio she had been driving in the direction of Great Ditchingham left the road and collided with a tree around 9.40pm last Friday.

The East of England Ambulance Service Trust dispatched three rapid vehicles, two ambulance crews, an ambulance from the East Anglian Air Ambulance charity, and a team from the SARS.

Paramedics treated the woman for a serious head injury and sedated her before taking her to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

On Monday it emerged she had sadly died of her injuries.

Her passenger, a man in his 20s, remains in a critical condition at Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Less than five hours earlier - around 5.15pm last Friday - a motorcyclist in his late 50s collided with a fence on Green Road in Brandon, close to the junction with Blackbird Avenue.

The road was closed following the collision while emergency services attended the scene, and it was reopened shortly after 8pm the same day.

He was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died. He has since been named as Andrew Snowie, 59.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed either incident or who may have any information about the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the collisions.

It is believed Mr Snowie had been travelling from Brandon town centre in the direction of Thetford at the time of the collision.

Anyone who saw the collision, or who has any information to assist the enquiry, should contact Suffolk Police on 101, quoting CAD 299 of 3 March.

Anyone with information regarding the circumstances surrounding the Ellingham collision should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Wymondham on non-emergency number 101.
