LORNA MARSH

Two men have been charged after the knife-point robbery and stabbing of two Polish men in Norwich that left one victim needing hospital treatment.

Dion Carr, 19, and Lee Holmes, 29, were remanded in custody by city magistrates after the incident at Chapelfield Gardens on Tuesday.

Carr, of Webdell Court, Norwich, and Holmes, Netherwood Green, Norwich, were both charged at the weekend with two counts of robbery and wounding with intent. They will appear at Norwich Crown Court next Monday.

One of the victims was stabbed several times in the leg during the incident and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where he required stitches for a wound to his thigh. He has now been discharged.

He and his friend, both in their early 20s, were threatened at knife point at about 9.30pm on Tuesday. They were with a male friend and had been sitting at the tables near the bandstand between 9pm and 9.30pm.

The victims' friend left and they were making their way to their rucksacks and pedal cycles when they were approached by two men.

One of the men brandished a knife and they demanded cash. The victims tried to to run away but one of them was pulled to the ground and stabbed in the leg before handing over a Nokia mobile phone and some cash.

The offenders made off towards the Theatre Royal taking the victims' two pedal cycles and a rucksack with them. One of them then dumped a bike and ran off while his accomplice rode out of the park.
