A comedy club is being launched next month at St George's Theatre in Great Yarmouth.

TV comic Carl Donnelly will be the first star guest at the monthly club run by Weird Coastal Buoys Comedy, on Thursday, February 13.

Carl, an Edinburgh Award nominee, has been seen on Mock the Week, Russell Howard's Good New and Dave's One Night Stand among others. He has also been the winner of the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year, Chortle Awards Best Newcomer and The Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year.

Carl will be supported by Graham Wilkes, Chris Purchase, Jon Murfin and local Gorelston talent Duane Efron. Duane, who was featured in the Mercury last year when he supported Jim Davidson at the Britannia Pier, said: 'It's fantastic for Great Yarmouth to have a monthly comedy night that brings TV comedy stars to St George's and a real privilege for me to perform alongside Carl.'

The comedy nights will be held on the second Thursday of every month, with top comedians such as Jarred Christmas and Mark 'Balls of Steel' Dolan in future months.

Paul Dunn, comedian and founder of the Buoys said: 'Things are looking great for comedy in the region as this year we're also bringing 8 out of 10 Cats and Never Mind the Buzzcocks regulars Tony Law, Sara Pascoe and Catherine Ryan to the east coast.'

Tickets for the comedy club cost £10 in advance. For more information and tickets go to www.wcbcomedy.com. Tickets are also available by calling St George's theatre on 01493 331484. It will be £12 admission on the door but entry cannot be guaranteed.
