This 2,000 tonne former naval vessel moored in Great Yarmouth could be yours - for £8.8m
The Triton out on the water
A former naval ship that has been moored in Great Yarmouth for more than a year is up for sale for £8.8m.
The Triton, an ex-Royal Navy vessel, has sat in South Quay since last June.
But now the 2,000-tonne ship, complete with helicopter platforms and a spare main engine, is up for grabs for €10m.
The ship is listed with yacht brokers, Ocean Independence, who describe it as 'a very attractive proposition'.
Built in the year 2000, Triton is 98m long, has a maximum speed of 16 knots, a range of 11,400 nautical miles and 40 days endurance.
A spokesman for Ocean Independence said: 'Having inspected her, this is a unique opportunity to acquire a go anywhere vessel with support yacht capabilities.'
Triton, a trimaran, was built for the UK's Defence Evaluation and Research Agency to test the viability of triple-hulled ships.

It later served as a patrol ship for the Australian Border Force, and fitted with two .50 calibre machine guns.
Tim Quinlan, Ocean Independence broker, said: 'As far as we are aware this is an almost unique ship in terms of design. There are very few trimaran configurations afloat today, let alone on the market, and this concept provides an exceptional degree of stability, high speed and low energy consumption, together with a relatively large amount of deck space.
'The design is 'weapons grade', originally designed for the Royal Navy, and now offers a unique platform for many uses.
'She could be a superyacht to take you anywhere in the world, or a superyacht shadow vessel, carrying every and any toy you can think of - be it submarine, float plane, helicopter, 12m chase boat, 12m sailing yacht and even a hypobaric chamber for the full on board dive suite.
'With a top London yacht designer, we are currently putting together some very interesting ideas that a new owner could incorporate and we are hoping to launch this to the superyacht market in the coming weeks.'
