Tributes have been paid to a former police officer, who has passed away following a short illness.

Known as 'Shakey' to family and friends, Chris Shepherd worked as a civilian staff in West Norfolk, having previously served as an officer for 30 years between 1978 and 2008. He passed away on Friday, March 24.

Chief Constable Simon Bailey said he was a 'highly valued' member of the police family, adding: 'Chris was well-known for his positive 'can-do' attitude and no matter what he was faced with his glass was always half full.

'He was committed to his duties as an officer and staff member and highly regarded among his colleagues. Chris was instrumental in the careers of so many officers by passing on his guidance and experience.'

His family thanked everyone for their kind messages of support, adding: 'Chris was a loving family man who was highly regarded among his peers and will be greatly missed.'
