David Nelson, who was in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident in Upwell, near Downham Market, on Tuesday morning.

Friend Duncan Lawton, who lives in Outwell, said his memory would live on in the village.

'Never knew the man long enough, but his life lives on in his fantastic kids,' he said.

'He was a fantastic man, engineer, no such thing as 'we cannot do that'.

'He left a legacy of some brilliant kids with a proper work ethic which is unusual today. He will be missed but his memory will live on.'

Police and officials from the Health and Safety Executive are still investigating the incident.

Mr Nelson, who lived in Upwell, was understood to have been working on a vehicle at AD Hurst and Son, on Baptist Road.

The firm has traded on the site, on the outskirts of the village, since the 1970s.
