Tree collision driver arrested in Great Yarmouth
A MAN who drove into a tree in Great Yarmouth was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, and driving while unfit through drink and drugs.
Police are appealing for information after the incident on Wednesday, in which a patrol car followed the Fiat at around 6.15pm after noticing the vehicle had no number plates.
The suspect was first spotted driving on Nelson Road Central close to the junction with Trafalgar Road.
However after initially failing to stop for the officer, who subsequently followed, shortly after the Fiat collided with a tree on Barnard Avenue.
Following an assessment in custody, the man was referred to the James Paget Hospital where he is being monitored.
The matter has been referred to the Constabulary's Professional Standards Department and voluntarily referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
