Bailiffs employed to remove travellers from Norwich park and ride site

Bailiffs have been employed to remove a group of travellers from a park and ride site which serves Norwich.

The encampment has been at the Costessey park and ride site since Thursday and following a meeting Norfolk County Council have instructed bailiffs to serve notice to the group

A council spokesperson said: 'A case conference was held yesterday, attended by multi-agency partners and it was agreed to employ bailiffs as it was necessary to remove the travellers swiftly.

'Bailiffs have been instructed to serve notice to vacate by 12pm on Thursday May 24.'

Norfolk Constabulary confirmed it is aware of the encampment and services to and from the site are running as usual.

Over the last couple of weeks travellers have also moved onto park and ride sites at Thickthorn and Harford.
