The jubilee show can go on in Dereham thanks to road transport firm Jack Richards & Son.

The Fakenham-based company has agreed to provide a 45-foot trailer, which will be turned into the stage for four hours of live entertainment during Dereham's main jubilee event on Sunday, June 3 from 1-5pm

The event is being put together on a shoestring budget, with support from a range of businesses and organisations.

Jack Richards operations director Mark White said: 'We are delighted to support the local community by providing a trailer. 'Over the years Jack Richards has recruited many young people from the area who believe in our motto: 'Work Hard and Play Hard,' and by providing this support we hope we encouraging them to do exactly this.'

Mr White is a local man himself who joined the company under the government YTS scheme in the 1980s and worked his way up to his current job.

The jubilee event – supported by Dereham Churches Together, Dereham Town Council and the police – will also include Dereham's biggest barbecue, and various organisations will have stalls and games to enjoy.

The organisers are getting the whole town centre decorated with bunting, and they are appealing for anyone with decorations to donate them. Dereham Town Singers will be performing, and among the other entertainment will be local band The Thinking Men, singer Rachel Fitzgerald, JDT Music, Dance With Me Academy, Act Two Performing Arts and The Puddlemarys.

The community singing of the National Anthem will come in the middle of the event and just before the St Nicholas's Church bells are rung.
