Passengers were delayed when a train hit a lorry at a level crossing in Dereham this afternoon (Wednesday).
The 1.16pm service to Wymondham, run by the Mid Norfolk Railway, clipped the back of the lorry at the Greens Lane crossing just minutes into its journey.
Nobody was injured and the train - undamaged in the collision - continued its journey 45 minutes later.
James Steward, operations manager for the Mid Norfolk Railway, said: 'We stress the importance of obeying the traffic signals at all the level crossings.'
Norfolk Police were called at 1.20pm today and the matter will now be referred to the independent Rail Accident Investigation Branch.
The Mid-Norfolk Railway Preservation Trust was established in 1995 with the aim of buying and restoring the then-disused line between Dereham and Wymondham.
It currently owns 28km (17.5 miles) of track and trackbed through the central Norfolk's countryside, making it one of the largest preserved railways in the UK.
