The Norwich to Cambridge line has reopened after a vehicle hit a railway bridge.

A vehicle hit the bridge in Eccles, near Attleborough, earlier this morning and flew onto the line.

Network Rail had earlier said the bridge near Eccles Road had been inspected and engineers confirmed there was “significant” damage to the structure.

Repairs have been carried out and the line between Thetford and Attleborough has now reopened

Greater Anglia ran a rail replacement bus service between Norwich and Ely and passengers travelling from Norwich to Cambridge were advised to travel via Stowmarket.

Earlier problems Colchester-bound line at Rivenhall between Witham and Kelvedon, and services between Norwich and Lowestoft.
