Work will begin on cleaning up Thetford railway station this weekend after local youth councillors adopted the historic site.

Thetford Youth Council will begin its challenge to make the station more attractive to visitors and commuters with a spring clean from 2pm on Sunday, March 11.

The group will look to clean up the station each weekend by litter-picking to help make the station more presentable for Monday morning commuters and to report damage and faults to Greater Anglia, the new operator of local rail services.

The second stage will be to create gardens, both on the ground and hanging baskets, with the help of the Thetford Garden and Allotment Club and any other organisation prepared to help.

Any local groups, organisations, and businesses who would be prepared to either donate or sponsor a hanging basket or plants for the gardens can contact Mike Wilkinson on 01366 728797 or 07712578721 or mike.g.wilkinson@btinternet.com
