Resurfacing work on one of Cromer's main one-way streets finished today.

Diversions were put in place along Vicarage Road and St Mary's Road while the work was carried out along parts of Mount Street in the town centre, including the junctions with Cambridge Street and Bond Street.

The work was expected to finish yesterday but was completed just after 12.30pm.

A Norfolk County Council spokesman said the work was delayed because of work carried out by Anglian Water on Mount Street.

He said yesterday evening: 'On Monday we were going fine but in the afternoon Anglian Water wanted to connect a new service on Mount Street. To avoid a brand new surface being dug up it was agreed that the Anglian Water work should be done immediately to carry out the connection on Monday night.'

The spokesman added the work had not been completed yesterday morning so only part of the road could be resurfaced, but not all.

Some business owners in the town centre complained the roadworks contributed towards a drop in customers.
