The all-new Range Rover Sport – the fastest, most agile and responsive Land Rover ever – showed its star quality when it was launched at Hunters Land Rover Norwich.

The prestige Cromer Road dealership had three new Range Rover Sports on display for an open evening on Thursday which allowed invited guests to call in at their leisure to see the new model in the metal for the first time.

Hunters brand manager Darren Anderson said about 75 people attended the event, organised in groups of about 20, so they had time to see the car and talk to Hunters' staff at leisure. The dealership is looking to sell 75 new Range Rover Sports in the first year.

'It has been well received. We have got people who have placed their orders who have been very happy with what they have done.

'There are also customers who have not placed orders because they wanted to see it and first reactions have been very good.

'It is designed in Britain and made in Britain and it is fantastic,' he added.

People who attended the launch event were also invited to test-drive the new vehicle this weekend.

Developed alongside the highly-acclaimed all-new Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport now delivers the brand's best-ever on-road dynamics together with class-leading, genuine Land Rover all-terrain capability.

The new, technology-packed Range Rover Sport presents customers with a more assertive and muscular exterior, more luxurious interior and the flexibility provided by the option of occasional 5+2 seating.

Exploiting Land Rover's lightweight suspension design and dynamic chassis technologies, the all-new, first-in-class aluminium architecture achieves a weight saving of up to 420kg. This transforms the vehicle's dynamic performance, enabling it to blend agile handling with exceptional comfort, offering a mix of sporting luxury and a dynamic, connected driving experience, along with a 15pc reduction in CO2 emissions and greatly improved fuel economy.

The initial line-up will comprise four equipment grades – SE, HSE, HSE Dynamic and Autobiography Dynamic and a choice of three engines – 258hp 3.0-litre TDV6, 292hp 3.0-litre SDV6 and 510hp supercharged 5.0-litre V8 petrol. The 258hp turbo diesel, offered only in SE trim, will be available in January. All models come with eight-speed automatic transmission and stop/start technology.

Standard features across the range include automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, two-zone climate control, heated front seats, DAB audio system, say-what-you-see voice control, power tailgate, HD navigation and Land Rover's latest Terrain Response all-terrain driving system.

The new Range Rover Sport is Land Rover's most technology-packed vehicle to date including several new innovative features including Wade Sensing, which monitors depth when driving through water, and a Torque Vectoring control package.

The 3.0 TDV6 SE is priced at £51,550 on the road. The 3.0 SDV6 HSE in £59,995, HSE Dynamic £64,995 and Autobiography Dynamic £74,995. The 5.0 V8 supercharged petrol Autobiography Dynamic is priced at £81,550.
