MINI fans celebrated 65 years of a motoring icon when Listers MINI King's Lynn revealed the all-new third-generation Hatchback.

Some 65 customers and guests attended the launch at the Hardwick Road dealership on Friday where they were taken through seven decades of the iconic brand with relevant music and a film show highlighting the life and times of the marque's 65 years since the original Mini was launched in 1959. Then, to Rudimental's hit Waiting All Night, the lights were turned down and the latest-generation Hatchback was revealed from under its cover amid great ceremony and wreaths of specially-created smoke.

To maintain the true spirit of the marque the latest arrival was in the showroom facing a classic Mini.

Dean Aldous, MINI brand manager at Listers MINI King's Lynn, said: 'It was really good and people enjoyed the music from the different decades.

'Everyone thought it was a fantastic car. I think a lof of people were worried it was not going to be a MINI any more but it changed their opinion when they saw it. It still has the same feel.

'A lot of people who have driven the car are saying it is a lot more refined than the old one which is good,' said Mr Aldous. 'It still has that fun, go-kart feel but it is still a practical vehicle. It really is a special car.'

So special in fact that Listers MINI King's Lynn has already sold 10 all-new hatches.

Mr Aldous said the Cooper S was fully-specced with all the latest new-generation MINI technology and driver assistance options, including head-up display and active cruise control, while the Cooper was fitted with the new self-parking feature. The Cooper D has the Pepper Pack.

'We have a nice versatile range to show customers,' he said. 'There is no stone unturned.

'We have one car that literally has every conceivable option on it, except the self-parking aid, and that is on the other one so you have a good range of choice of cars available.'
