Mike Broad, from West Bilney, near King's Lynn, is competing in the final of the Audi quattro UK Cup at the Bowood Golf and Country Club, near Calne in Wiltshire, on Thursday.

Mr Broad, 50, is partnering Andrew Witter, 29, from Stowmarket, in the one-day, 18-hole Stableford rules competition.

Thirty-six amateur golfers will be contesting the UK final and bidding for the national title while the top two pairs will go on to represent Great Britain in the Audi quattro World Cup final which is being staged at the Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles, America, from October 7 to 11.

Mr Broad individually finished third in the Marriott Motor Audi Group Woodbridge Golf Club event in June before teaming up with Mr Witter to claim second place in a regional final at Woburn Golf Club last month.

The Audi quattro Cup, which is being staged for the 23rd year, is the world's largest amateur golf competition with almost 80,000 players from more than 50 countries competing for a place in the week-long world final.
