Hammonds of Halesworth is going to offer a brand new 63-registration Ford Fiesta to the first person to get a hole in one at the seventh hole at the Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club Captains Charity Day on September 20.

The club was established in 1889 and proudly belongs to the Association of James Braid Courses. It is on Bungay Common to the north of the town, with the course beside the River Waveney.

The competition is open to men, ladies and mixed teams and there are other prizes on various holes during the day.

Bungay men's captain Trevor Bond said: 'This is fantastic news. We are indebted to Glen Hammond, director of Hammonds Motor Group, for this incredible sponsorship. I am not aware this hole-in-one prize of a car has been done at Bungay before, but it will certainly boost entries for the charity day on September 20.

'We are very grateful for the Hammond Group helping us support our chosen charity Help for Heroes, assisting those who have given so much to our country.'
