Two long-established motoring businesses have come together with Hammond Group becoming the Chevrolet dealer for Suffolk.

The up-and-coming, fast-growing Chevrolet brand, which was 100 years old last year, is an important addition to the Halesworth-based motor group, which this year is marking half a century in business, by adding a great-value brand to its portfolio.

The Chevrolet range of Spark city car, Aveo supermini, family-sized Cruze saloon, hatchback and forthcoming Station Wagon, which is being launched the weekend of October 13 and 14, Orlando people-carrier and Captiva sport utility vehicle is sharing a modern nine-car showroom with Subaru at the Norwich Road site.

Dealer principal Piers Capleton said the showroom, opened in 2008, had been designed for two brands and had originally housed Subaru and value brand Daihatsu until the latter pulled out of the UK.

'We have been looking for an alternative brand – something we thought had huge potential and fitted in with Nissan and Subaru without taking away sales.

'Chevrolet is a real up-and-coming range. We are entering such an exciting time. They are very high quality, excellent value for money and they just sit so well size wise.'

Hammonds has already had plenty of interest in the Chevrolet range and several sales and with a five-year, 100,000-mile warranty and currently zero per cent finance with a 10pc deposit over five years across most of the range it is not difficult to see why people are finding Chevrolet affordable and enjoying the peace-of-mind motoring.

Add three-year fixed-price servicing deals, including AA cover, at 349 for all models except the Captiva which costs 449 and owners can budget their motoring costs.

Hammond Chevrolet has a dedicated team of five highly-trained, friendly and helpful sales staff to assist with new and used car sales and to discuss finance options. There are also Motability specialists as well as dedicated after-sales and service facilities.

Founded in 1911 in America, Chevrolet is one of the fastest-growing car brands in the world and arrives at Hammond as the family-run business is celebrating its golden anniversary year.

Hammond Group has been trading since 1962 and has rapidly become a well-established and trusted brand in the community, exploying 270 people across the region. It also has Nissan, Ford, Land Rover, Subaru, Isuzu and Great Wall franchises and is an Iveco service centre.

Piers said: 'We are very proud of our history and it is testimony to the strength of our team that after 50 years we are still going strong.

'Chevrolet appealed to us on lots of levels. Its model range offers many premium features as standard, while still delivering our customers really excellent value for money and we think our customers, both existing and new, will love the range.'
