The wet weather led to disappointment for some fireworks fans who to see a display on Saturday as the muddy ground caused traffic chaos.

The event at Heveningham Hall near Halesworth went ahead despite the rain during the day but the waterlogged ground led to holdups for some drivers.

Hundreds took to social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to vent their frustration at the situation.

In a statement posted on their Facebook page, a spokesman said: 'We'd like to thank all the people who came to the fireworks last night and we're delighted that the vast majority of people enjoyed themselves, while raising money for local causes.

'Unfortunately, a week's worth of rain prior to the event left some of the parking area waterlogged, and that regrettably led to some people experiencing problems with accessing the venue.

'While the weather is out of our control, we're committed to improving the facilities at our event, so we will be installing temporary roadways and reorganising the parking next year just in case this happens again.

'This will categorically avoid any repeat of the issue.

'Please get in touch with us directly by writing to grahame.sutherland@heveninghamhall.co.uk if you have any additional feedback. In the meantime, we'd like to thank all our volunteers for another spectacular display. We're already planning next year.'
