'We have an excellent set of candidates for Conservative party leader and Prime Minister. I have met one-to-one with all five candidates. I know and admire them all and I hope that each one will make a significant contribution in government in the years ahead. I have voted for Theresa May because the country needs a steady hand on the tiller and she has the right experience and is ready to be Prime Minister now. Furthermore, I have concluded that Theresa is in the best position to unite the Conservative Party in Parliament and across the country in the constituencies.'
