The abandonment of the torched car between Blaydon Bridge and Canterbury Way Bridge, on the Abbey estate, follows a spate of similar attacks in recent weeks.

An officer from Breckland Council, on whose land the car was left, attended the scene yesterday (Thursday) to assess the situation.

There were fears that due to the recent wet weather and saturated state of the grassy land, it may be some time before the vehicle can be removed.

A witness stated that the grass around the car, believed to have been in its current resting place for some days, was 'churned up'.

Last month, three arrests were made after a torched Mercedes was abandoned on Barnham Cross Common.

This came just days after two other cars were torched on the common.
