Cyclists are running out of time to bid for places on a London to Paris bike ride in aid of East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).

EACH has secured 20 places on route two of the London to Paris ride from July 23-27.

Many places have already been filled, but interested cyclists have until February 16 to apply for the last remaining places.

The London to Paris ride will involve cyclists travelling approximately 300 miles across the English and French countryside, spending up to eight hours per day in the saddle.

The event finishes at the Eiffel Tower in Paris and participants will have the opportunity to see the final stage of the 2014 Tour de France afterwards.

Jeremy Kidd, from Sprowston, is a long-standing EACH supporter.

He is the main fundraiser with the Norwich Scooter Collective, a group which has raised more than £10,000 for EACH and he took part in the Norwich Half Marathon in 2012 for EACH. He will be taking part in the London to Paris challenge too.

Mr Kidd said: 'EACH is such a fantastic charity and I'm really pleased I've secured a place on the London to Paris ride to help raise funds.

'I did some cycling events last year, including Cambridge to Norwich and the Wymondham 100, with only a little bit of training, but I needed a bigger challenge, so London to Paris is perfect. I've been getting in training and really looking forward to the event. I hope other people are inspired like I have been to take part.'

Jo Colbert, EACH partnerships manager, said: 'All the cyclists who took part in last year's challenge had a great time. Most of the cyclists had never met before, but many have made lasting friendships following the challenge which is wonderful. Some of them are taking part again this year which proves just how rewarding the challenge is.'

Participants for this year's challenge are asked to pay a £149 registration fee to Global Adventure Challenges and they need to agree to raise £1,320 minimum sponsorship – this target is £300 lower than last year, making it easier to achieve.
