Tickets for a surprise Michael McIntyre show at Norwich Playhouse sold out in six minutes this morning.

A queue began forming outside Norwich Theatre Royal from 6am with the box office opening at 11am.

But huge demand on the theatre’s website and box office line meant only a handful of fans in the queue got tickets.

Nick Herman and his girlfriend Anna Fox drove into Norwich from Hindringham and were twelfth in line, but went away empty handed.

Nick, 20, said: “They served six to ten people out of over 200 people that queued.

“We would have had more chance sitting at home. It is very disappointing.”

Administrative manager at the Playhouse, Caz Slota, said demand for the show at the venue which holds 300 people was unprecedented.

She said: “We are terribly sorry if people are disappointed. We had thousands of people trying to get tickets. It is quite a special circumstance.”

She added that the way the tickets were put on sale was dictated to them by Michael McIntyre’s management company.

London-born McIntyre, who is known for his series Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, will be performing on Tuesday, November 29, at 8pm in Norwich, ahead of his tour which will see him take to the stage at the O2, Wembley and the Manchester Evening News Arena.
