Fire crews have tackled a fire at an agricultural building near Great Yarmouth.

The East of England Ambulance Service was also called to the incident at Filby Road, Thrigby.

A spokesman for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said eight crews were called to the scene just before 2pm, with the first crew on scene by 2.10pm.

Mac Mcleod, station manager at Great Yarmouth, said three of the crews were stood down as firefighters fought a blaze in a seed storage building.

He said: “We were concerned about the fire spreading to a nearby chicken shed but managed to secure that and it was undamaged.”

The fire was put out swiftly, although asbestos on the building’s roof was seriously damaged.

One appliance was needed to stay at the scene to ensure the fire did not reignite.
