CHRIS BISHOP
Three more patients have become infected with the virulent diarrhoea bug which forced a ward to close at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Five patients on the QE's 34-bed Oxborough Ward were diagnosed with the Clostridium difficile virus after being taken ill on Monday night.
Today a spokesman said three more patients were showing symptoms and were awaiting the results of tests to see if they had caught the bug.
Visits are still being allowed but tight hygiene controls have been introduced throughout the hospital to help prevent the virus from spreading.
