Three men saved by Sheringham fishermen in offshore drama

A fishing boat towed three people to safety this afternoon when their inflatable was drifting 800 metres from shore.

Sheringham's relief lifeboat the James Dugdale was launched at the request of Great Yarmouth Coastguard at 12.14pm to go to help the three, who were drifting due east with the flood tide.

The lifeboat arrived at the scene just as a local fishing vessel the Tomkit came alongside and towed the inflatable. The lifeboat, with David Hagan at the helm, accompanied the two boats back the beach.
