A playing field which had been riddled with diseased trees was made safe thanks to funding from the local authority.
Around 60 mature, diseased and dangerous poplar trees were found at the playing field in Three Holes in an inspection carried out by Edward Benton of Golden Tree Surgeons of Fincham.
The playing field, which is owned by the village and managed by the Three Holes Village Hall & Playing Field charity, was closed to the public on May 9 as the trees were located within striking distance of children's play equipment based on the field.
The charity's trustees applied for a grant from West Norfolk council's small grant fund and were delighted to be awarded £2,500 towards the costs of chopping down the trees.
The felling and chipping of 21 tons of waste wood took place between May 14 and 16 and the playing field was reopened to the public.
