A supermarket in Thorpe St Andrew is doing its bit to help raise money for the Poppy Appeal.

The Thorpe Branch of the Royal British Legion will launch their annual appeal at Sainsbury's Pound Lane on Saturday October 28 with collectors remaining in the store until Remembrance Day on Sunday, November 12.

RBL Thorpe Branch officials and veterans will be joined by mayor Ian Mackie, Broadland District Council chairman John Ward and store manager Jason Symonds to mark the start of the campaign.

Last year £8,566 was collected at the store, adding to the total of £20,000.

The Thorpe Branch Poppy Appeal organiser, Julian Mogford said: 'Donations are spent on helping veterans stay in their own homes, helping military families, helping the injured service men recover, teaching children the meaning of remembrance and careers advice for service leavers.'
