Police believe the body of a third Ipswich prostitute may have lain undiscovered for more than a week. Anneli Alderton, 24, from Colchester was today named as the woman whose body was found in Nacton, near Ipswich, on Sunday. She had been strangled but not sexually assaulted. Ms Alderton was known to work as a prostitute in Ipswich.

She was last seen catching a train from Harwich to Ipswich on December 3. A witness told police that he saw a body at the Nacton crime scene on December 7 but thought it was an abandoned mannequin.

Meanwhile police have not yet established the cause of death of Tania Nicols, 19, and Gemma Adams, 24, but has said neither was strangled.

Overnight police have received 450 calls from members of the public. About 25 calls have been taken on a special hotline set up for prostitutes.
