Thieves target pig unit
Police have urged people in rural commmunities to be extra vigilant after thieves targeted a pig unit at Hilborough, near Swaffham.
The intruders got in between 2pm on Sunday December 19 and and 5.30am the following day and stole three 12 volt batteries, two metal tractor chains and about 100 litres of red diesel.
Anyone with information on the burglary or who saw people acting suspiciously in the area should contact PC Christin Plane at Swaffham Police Station on 0845 456 4567 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Officers have offered rural security advice including keeping hedges, fences and gates in good repair, close and lock gates, store valuable equipment and tools in a secure building behind a strong locked door, use British Standard locks, good quality locking bars and high security padlocks, consider an intruder alarm installed by a reputable alarm company with NSI or SSAIB accreditation and property mark equipment.
