A business woman is preparing to run this year's London Marathon dressed as a cat for a feline care charity that she is a trustee of.

Valerie Watson-Brown climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in January for the Zoological Society of East Anglia and has now got a ballot place to run Sunday's marathon for Feline Care.

'Feline Care at Roudham is more than just a cat sanctuary,' she explained.

'It plays an important role in the local community helping to control feral colonies that get out of control in public and other places.

'Its neutering and release programme keeps colonies in check - many of these groups of felines play an important role themselves keeping vermin under control.

Mrs Watson-Brown, of Bridgham near Thetford, has been training in Thetford Forest at 5.30am each morning to fit in with her business commitments, which include established marketing compant The Lively Crew and the BOLD business directories.

'Fitting training in around work and travel for work has been as much of a challenge as actually covering the miles required to climb a mountain as well as compete this weekend,' she said.

However she has had running partner Sparky the dog for company.

'I will have a cat themed outfit on Sunday. I think I am more nervous about travelling on the underground to the starting line than actually running – let's hope nobody recognises me!

She has currently raised nearly £700.
