Thetford’s Polish Language School will welcome a Second World War veteran who will talk about the history of Poland.

Pawel Jarzabek, who is 93, will talk about the Polish Soviet War, the Battle of Warsaw, which took place in 1920, and the 1683 Battle of Vienna - part of the Ottoman–Habsburg Wars.

Born in Upper Silesia, Poland, in 1925 Mr Jarzabek was taken to a camp along with his father during the Second World War, but his father never returned.

During the war Mr Jarzabek deserted the Germans and was taken prisoner by the Allies but was then incorporated into the Polish armed forces.

In 1961 Mr Jarzabek returned to his homeland for the first time after his experiences and lives in Woking.

The event will take place at 3pm on Saturday at the school, which is based at the Charles Burrell Centre.

Tickets are available on the door for £1 and refreshments are available.
