A man from Thetford has been spoken to by police over the alleged racial abuse of Norwich City manager Chris Hughton on the social media site Facebook

Although the person involved has not been charged police are now speaking to the football club to see how the matter can be resolved.

Officers traced the suspect after complaints over an offensive remark said to have been left on a Norwich City FC Fan Club Facebook page following the club's 4-1 defeat by Arsenal on October 19

A spokeswoman for Norfolk Constabulary said: 'A man from Thetford has been interviewed in connection with the incident and police are liaising with Norwich City Football Club to reach an appropriate resolution.'

The comment was removed from the site following a storm of protest by Norwich fans.

At the time Hughton said: 'I am disappointed, sad and angry, it is all of those emotions. It is not something that I should have to deal with, but it is something I am having to deal with.

'It is in the hands of the appropriate authorities and I am quite sure the correct action will be taken.'

It was the second time that the Canaries' manager was said to have been subjected to racist abuse online.

Earlier in October police confirmed they were also investigating a separate report of racist abuse targeting the Norwich manager on a Facebook page called **OFFICIAL**!!! Ipswich-Norwich fans banter/insult/joke page, which is not officially connected to either club.
