Employment in three districts in the region falls below the national average, according to figures compiled by a union.
North Norfolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney all have employment rates below 74% – the rate seen across the UK.
GMB London said North Norfolk came in lowest at 67.9% of 16 to 64-year-olds in employment, while Great Yarmouth had a rate of 73.3% and Waveney, 72.6%.
Warren Kenny, GMB London region secretary, said: 'Several areas of Eastern England's economy need to be thoroughly regenerated to bring to the areas new well paid jobs. This regeneration should be part of a much needed wider regeneration in the regions of the UK. This will not happen by accident and requires a partnership between local and national government and between public and private sectors.'
It is not all bad news however with the East of England as a whole having an employment rate of 77.2%.
