Earlier this morning the nation's favourite TV cook, Mary Berry, announced she would be leaving The Great British Bake Off and fans of the show instantly took to social media to share their thoughts.
Baking queen, Mary Berry, released a statement this morning announcing that she would be leaving The Great British Bake Off out of loyalty to The BBC ahead of the show's move to Channel 4.
Fans of the baking competition have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the news, with many seemingly unable to cope with Berry's departure.
Twitter user @katie_uske took the news especially hard and shared her concern for the country's wellbeing, suggesting that 'the whole of Britain deserves a day off tomorrow to grieve over Mary Berry leaving the Bake Off', while Dale Solan compared the Bake Off without Berry to 'walking into McDonalds and asking for a salad'.
However not everyone was saddened by the announcement, with some fans, such as Chris Lonsdale, sharing their support for Mary's decision. He tweeted: 'Well done, Mary Berry, Love Productions just too greedy.'
With fellow judge Paul Hollywood signed on for another three years, the internet will now ponder who could possibly fill Berry's big baking shoes, and more importantly, as Hollie Wingrove aks: 'What even is Bake Off without Mary Berry?!'
