He spent weeks overcoming poor scores from the judges to win the hearts of the general public who crowned him 'the people's champion', but last night Ed Balls' dreams of lifting the iconic glitter ball trophy came crashing down.

Balls became the 10th celebrity to leave the show after failing to impress in the Cha Cha Challenge and is now looking forward to returning to Carrow Road to fulfil his role as chairman of the football club.

Throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning, Norwich City fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Ed Balls' Strictly stint and his impending return.

Martin Manning was hopeful that Ed Balls' axe from the show would mean that Norwich 'will go flying back up the league', similarly, John Bliss tweeted: 'The curse hanging over NCFC has been lifted now @edballs has left Strictly.'

Others appeared to care little for the football and more about the possibility of a dance show during half-time at the next match, with Adam Hunt asking: 'How peak Norwich would it be to get Ed Balls to dance at half time on Saturday?'
