Villagers are being consulted on plans to demolish and re-build Tharston Village Hall, which has been shut since March.
Currently, village groups, including Tharston WI and the parish council are having to hold meetings elsewhere since the hall was forced to shut after being undermined by trees.
However, the parish council is hopeful it will be able to get the new hall up and running by early spring or summer, although a planning application still needs to be submitted to South Norfolk Council.
A spokesman for the parish council said the current hall had been undermined by tree roots and the chimney could fall either way, but the parish hoped the new hall would provide facilities for everything from christening after church to Pilates classes.
Although costings have not yet been completed for the scheme, the parish expects it will have to apply for a grant.
The spokesman said: 'We should be able to get a building that fits with the character of the village. It will be the sort of venue that people can hire out for a christening after church or Pilates.'
