The teenager, who was walking down the passageway between Lynn Road and Trafford Road, was approached by a man who pushed him from behind at around 5.15pm.

Speaking in a foreign accent the offender said 'give me the bag' and proceeded to pull out what was believed to be a knife.

The robber attempted to steal the boy's bag and stabbed at his back several times. Fortunately, though, the boy's rucksack saved him from serious injury, although it was punctured along with a folder inside.

The victim, who sustained cuts and abrasions to his wrists as a result of the incident ran away as soon as he could.
