A 17-year-old boy is due to appear at Lowestoft Magistrates Court this morning (Monday) charged with three counts of robbery and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon following incidents in the town last Thursday evening and Saturday, February, 15.

The teenager, of no fixed abode and who can't be named because of his age, was arrested yesterday morning (Sunday), after two 15-year-old boys were threatened at knife point and made to hand over their mobile phones in an incident in the Broom Road area about 5pm on Saturday.

The 17-year-old was also interviewed in connection with an incident in the Lowestoft College car park on Rotterdam Road, about 6.30pm last Thursday where another 17-year-old was robbed of his Nokia Lumia mobile phone.

The teenager has now been charged with three counts of robbery, one in connection with the incident on Thursday and two following the incident on Saturday, and with possession of an offensive weapon in both incidents.

He has been detained in custody to appear before magistrates this morning.
