Fire crews freed a swan trapped in metal wiring on the River Wensum on Saturday afternoon.
The distressed swan was spotted by a policeman who saw the bird struggling on the river underneath a footbridge near the Adam and Eve pub in the city centre.
One fire crew from Earlham was called shortly before 3pm.
They helped free the swan, which swam off uninjured.
