A Swaffham woman diagnosed with Parkinson's at 43 is taking part in a 5.5mile charity walk to prove she can still live a full life.

Sharon Pope was given her diagnosis in January and is determined to help find a cure for the condition.

She will be walking alongside her sister-in-law for Parkinson's UK at Walk for Parkinson's at the Blickling Estate, near Aylsham, on Saturday, May 13.

She said: 'Early this year my world fell apart when I received the devastating news that I have early onset Parkinson's.

'My symptoms had started with a shaking leg about 12 months before. The thought that it could be Parkinson's never crossed my mind, that's what older people have.

'By taking part in the walk, I want to prove to myself that having Parkinson's will not stop me from living a full and active life.'

She has already raised more than her £350 target. To find out more about the event, call 0207 963 9367.
