Dereham police are appealing for information after a woman was shot in the chest in Chapel Street by what is believed to be an air rifle early yesterday, Wednesday June 14.
The woman had stepped outside her home when she heard two shots, one hitting a nearby window and the second hitting her in the chest, causing reddening.
It is thought the shots were fired from an air rifle from a first floor window in the street.
Police spokeswoman Beth Manning said: “This appears to have been a deliberate act and it is fortunate that the victim was not more seriously injured.
“We would urge anyone with knowledge of the offender to contact police immediately.”
