A new survey says 34pc of us believe in the paranormal. Sightings are on the increase - especially on our roads. Here are some of the hazards you might have to swerve.
King's Lynn A149 - Black Shuck
One fateful day in 2000, college lecturer Simon Corbin was driving from Hunstanton and saw what he believes was Black Shuck, a giant, hairy dog with glowing red eyes said to haunt parts of the region.
Sightings of a phantom dog has been reported for centuries and were believed to be the inspiration for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's story The Hound of the Baskervilles.
College lecturer Simon Corbin, based in Kingston, Surrey, says he saw it in 2000. 'I believe I saw the ghost dog while I was doing my teacher training in Norfolk, in the year 2000 – shortly before I joined Kingston College,' he said. The College's official website adds: 'Simon, then living in King's Lynn and working in Hunstanton, was driving on the A149 on a bright summer's day when he saw a large black dog racing across the carriageway. In true ghostly fashion, the creature appeared from and vanished into thin air.'

In May this year a stunned eyewitness revealed how he spotted what he described as a Bigfoot loitering close to woodland.
Burnley Road, Todmorden, West Yorks A646 - Alien Abduction
In November 1980, Police officer Alan Godfrey told how he'd witnessed a strange craft in the middle of the road before he was seemingly snatched from his patrol car and deposited 30 yards down the road with 15 minutes of his life having gone 'missing'.
East Riding of Yorkshire, B1249 - Werewolf
Reports from the 1960s describe how a lorry driver was left terrified when a red-eyed hairy creature tried to smash its way through his windscreen as he drove along a remote road.
Then in 2016 Jemma Waller, 24, described seeing a monster 'like a big dog, probably bigger than my car, but it had a human face'.
Loch Awe road, Argyll and Bute, Scotland, B840 - Ghost Car
Reports of a mysterious 'ghost car' that terrifies motorists. Locals Len and Mandy Ross recently reported their encounter. Saying 'We were on our way to Oban to get some supplies when we saw a car coming towards us. We took our eyes off for five seconds… but nothing went past'.
Stocksbridge, Sheffield, South Yorks A616 - The Faceless Ghost
In 1997 Paul Ford told a local newspaper: 'From a distance it looked like someone trying to cross the road but as I got nearer I could see it was like a man in a long cloak. Then I realised it had no face and it was just hovering above the road.'
