On and off the football pitch, Billy Hines was the same - a happy, sociable person who was popular with those around him.

The Hartismere High School pupil played for Diss Town Football Club's youth sides up until the age of 16, after first joining the under-eights squad.

Youth club coach Mark Channell coached Billy from when he was in the under-nines right up until he was 16.

'He was such a fantastic lad,' Mr Channell said. 'He had always got a smile on his face.

'No-one had a bad word to say about him. He was one of the characters of the team and just such a pleasure to be around. He was life and soul of the team.

'He played the game with so much determination. He was just a happy lad.'

Mr Channell added that the news of Billy's death was 'just awful'.

One floral tribute left for Billy at the scene of the crash in Tivetshall Road, Pulham Market, read: 'Fly high lovely, such a beautiful soul.'

And in their tribute left at the scene of the accident to the person they addressed as their 'young friend', the grandparents of Kyle Warren wrote: 'You were like another grandson. An old head on young shoulders.

'You have left me broken hearted. I will never forget you. God bless you RIP.'
