Strike at pet food factory on hold

A strike involving 300 workers at the Nestle Purina pet foods factory at Wisbech has been suspended to allow further talks between the GMB union and management on Tuesday.

A strike involving 300 workers at the Nestle Purina pet foods factory at Wisbech has been suspended to allow further talks between the GMB union and management on Tuesday.

An improved 2.3 per cent pay offer backdated to April 1 was rejected by workers. Any new offer will be put to the GMB's members on Thursday.

GMB organiser Alan Costello said talks were held on Friday and a decision was taken to suspend strike action in order for further talks with management.

No one from Nestle Purina was available for comment.
