Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident where at least 11 vehicles were damaged as they travelled along the A47 after stones were catapulted at them.

The incidents happened between about 4.20pm and 9.30pm on Monday, October 2.

Police have received 11 complaints so far from motorists who were travelling on the Yarmouth-bound stretch of the A47 near to the Trowse slip roads.

Two 17-year-old boys were arrested at about 9.40pm and were questioned at Bethel Street Police Station in Norwich. Both have been released on police bail pending further enquiries and a catapult has been seized.

Investigating officer PC Steve Birchenall said: “We believe that a number of other motorists may have been affected by this incident and for one reason or another may not yet have reported it.

“We would encourage anyone who was driving in this area yesterday between about 4.20pm and 9.30pm and has experienced damage to their vehicle to contact us.

“We are treating this incident seriously as clearly it is very fortunate that it did not result in a major road collision or indeed significant injury to the motorists concerned.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Birchenall at the Central Area Road Policing Unit in Wymondham on 0845 4564567.
